Queer 101: LGBTQI Sensitive Practice

This workshop provides Gestalt practitioners and students with a Queer 101, to incorporate LGBTQI and Gender affirmative, inclusive and sensitive approaches to your practice.


We will explore: a brief historical ground of the LGBTQI movement and resistance; the current health situation for LGBTQI identified people; affirming language, concepts and pronouns; critiquing how our heteronormative biases may be impacting our practices and interventions by bringing the unconscious in to awareness in both therapeutic work and ones wider life/field and; experiment with your own queerness and gender-beingness to support integration.

Clients at Risk of Suicide in the Clinical Practice of Gestalt Psychotherapy

Suicide-related presentations are often experienced as very challenging and distressing for therapists, including Gestalt psychotherapists

The seminar will include some theory or psychoeducation and an overview of Gestalt thinking on this topic. The training will be an opportunity to share experience and dilemmas around working with clients expressing suicidal ideation and with a history of suicidal behaviour, and their families.
